Betatron provides operator level certification to 3 of the most widely recognized standards published by IPC. Certified IPC Application Specialist (CIS) training and certification is recommended for any individual who uses a workmanship standard, including operators, inspectors, engineers, buyers and management.

IPC-A-610 CIS Certification and Re-Certification

Learners will participate in a discussion and overview of the IPC-A-610D. When there are revisions and/or amendments to this standard, learners will discuss applicable changes. Students will be able to make correct “accept/reject” decisions for the appropriate class/classes of production, based on the acceptability requirements of IPC-A-610.

OBJECTIVE:  Satisfactory completion of this course:
Successfully pass Modules 1 & 2 with an average score of 70% or better
Successfully pass Optional Modules 3-9 with an average score of 70% or better

ANSI/J-STD-001 CIS Certification and Re-Certification

The purpose of this course is to assist the electronic manufacturer in the production of high quality products at the lowest possible cost by providing a greater understanding of the soldering and assembly processes through “standard” training.

This course assumes that the students know some of the basic concepts and materials associated with hand soldering. If students have not previously performed soldering activities then additional training will be necessary prior to attending this course - Betatron can provide this service.

WHAT THE "LEARNER" RECEIVES:

  • ANSI J-STD-001 Manual

  • Applicable soldering kit(s)

  • IPC “Application Specialist” (CIS) Certificate

Students will receive an IPC “Application Specialist” certificate with an overall score of 70% or better, on classroom written exams, except Module 6, and an overall score of 70% or better on soldering demonstrations.

IPC/WHMA-A-620 CIS Certification and Re-Certification

IPC/WHMA-A-620 is the first industry standard for cable and wire harness fabrication and installation. The Operator program is modularized to allow for maximum flexibility to meet individual needs. This training will familiarize the student with the general requirements of the IPC/WHMA-A-620 Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Harness Assemblies, and concludes with a qualifying examination.

OBJECTIVES:

Upon successful completion of this training program participants will be certified as Application Specialist. With this portable credential, you’ll receive immediate recognition and value throughout the Electronics Industry.

  • Reference the IPC/WHMA-A-620 standard to make acceptable/reject decisions

  • Interpret terminology and their definitions

  • Successfully pass Modules 1 & 2 with an average score of 70% or better

  • Successfully pass Optional Modules 3-8 with a score of 70% or better

 ESD  Electrostatic Discharge

This course is designed to be used in conjunction with your company’s internal documents and policies. Betatron will customize this course to include your policies. This course will assist employees in becoming more responsible for eliminating ESD damage to sensitive devices.

OBJECTIVES:
Upon successful completion of this course learners will have the ability to:

  • State what ESD is

  • Identify sources of Static Electricity

  • State the effects of ESD on electronic components

  • Demonstrate ESD safety precautions

  • Implement a personal program to eliminate ESD failures
